Song Colours - read all about it.
It's funny how a design for a print can grow from something relatively innocent. This one, 'Song Colours' came from listening to an old Bill Nelson track called 'Do You Dream In Colour?' - which apart from being a great title, just poked at the thought of just how many songs have colours in their title? The answer is many and in the case of The Beatles there are several - but rather than pepper a design with Beatles songs I wanted to see if we could produce something using just song title per band or artist.
Putting it into a design was the next task and the best solution was a stack of book spines as it gives you the option to include both the song title with its colour reference and then the artist or band as the 'author'.
Then it was a question collating the songs - from some of those classics like ELO's 'Mr.Blue Sky' and Jimi Hendrix's 'Purple Haze' and including some of those curiosities like The Fall's 'Kurious Oranj' and 'Green Fuz' by The Cramps.
Definitely something to pore over with titles from all genres and all ages and every one a colourful read!
Because of the complexity of the design this poster is only available in A2 format.
