The Welsh 3000s - Snowdonia's finest challenge

The Welsh 3000s - Snowdonia's finest challenge

The Welsh 3000s are the 15 peaks in Snowdonia rising above 3,000 feet.

They sit across 3 mountain ranges:- The Snowdon Massif, The Glyderau and The Carneddau. It's the subject of the Welsh 3000s Challenge - which is to successfully scale all 15 peaks within 24 hours. It's roughly 50km and nearly 4,000 metres in height gain so it's no mean feat!

What shouldn't be forgotten as that each peak holds its own beauty, and the appeal of simply enjoying the stunning scenery is just as strong. Incredibly, the record for the fastest time is 4 hours 10 minutes held by Scottish runner Finlay Wild. Angela Carson holds the women's record with 5 hours 28 minutes.

The Snowdonia Society maintains a public database of persons visiting the 14 peaks in a single journey.
